Hi,

I have set PhotoFiltre as the external application to be opened in IrfanView
3.85. However, PhotoFiltre always opens with a French interface when I call
it from IrfanView.

It opens just fine using the desktop shortcut.

Any suggestions would be very welcome :-)

Jane

PS: it would be great if a French speaking user can tranlate the PhotoFiltre
tutorials into English (with the author's permission!).

Foxmail is originally done in Chinese and has had a similar problem.
Deleting the Chinese language file was the solution. Perhaps
deleting the French language file (if one exists) would solve the
problem. As I don't have photofiltre, I cannot be certain.

Right now it's doing the same thing to me. It would seem that
conversion of the program to English is done via "C:\Program
Files\PhotoFiltre\TranslationEN.plg" which is a plugin. Why it ignores
the plugin when the program is started this way is a mystery to me.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

It even does it when you right-click a pic and choose "Open With" and choose
PhotoFiltre. Oh well, I can live with that.

I have tried to duplicate your scenario but to no avail. It always opens in
English Interface only.
Have you got both the English and French versions on the computer?
In your PhotoFiltre folder, apart from other folders, you should have only 6
entries:
License txt
PhotoFiltre exe
PhotoFiltre ini
PhotoMasque htm
TranslationEN plg
Uninst exe

The problem may be if you have both versions.
One suggestion is to remove both and download only the english
version...perhaps you have a version other than the latest?
Other than the above, can't pinpoint for you exactly what the problem could
be.

I had the same problem and downloaded/installed 5.4 and the problem was
solved.

Glad I was able to offer something useful, even though it wasn't much.

take care,

Wasn't much? A PhotoFiltre update could cause a stampede here! :)
