Photo Story 3 will not convert

after doing extensive research online trying to find a solution, I am still
stuck battleing this issue that should have been fixed forever ago.
PapaJohn's Guide to YouTube http://tinyurl.com/2eh3d3 only worked once for
me. When I go back to create another video, YouTube gives me the message
saying "unable to convert". I dont want to be forced to use Windows Movie
Maker because of the annoying hang ups. Can anyone shed any light on this
subject for me? Or maybe even suggest a free YouTube compatible movie making
software?

Thanks in advance,

Please email me at (e-mail address removed)

YouTube has drifted over time, to the point that you need to assume it won't
successfully convert a story.... if you don't want to use Movie Maker, use
something else such as the Windows Media Encoder to do a conversion before
uploading.

I see that you included your email at the bottom of your post. This is a bad idea.
There are automated processes called spiders that go into newsgroups like this
one looking for emails so that they can collect them and send them back to
spammers. Once a spammer has your email, they can 1) send you a bunch of
spam or 2) build a database with your email and sell it to other spammers.

If you wish/need to include your email in a post, obfuscate it. Have a look how
I obfuscated your email below. Now when the email gets collected (the proper
term is "harvested") by the spammer's spiders they will have an invalid email.

I hope you find a solution to your problem. I have used MovieMaker and posted
to YouTube successfully, although I also had some problems, as You Tube does
not seem to like some WMV formats (actually I did not know there were more
than one!)

Remove NON & SPAMME to email me.

Another way to obfuscate the email:
Please email me at lovethydog<at>msn<dot>com

Say NO to spam!! :-D

Just to verify...did you save the PhotoStory
in the .wmv format? Some users have tried
uploading the .wp3 project files and that will
never work because they are only compatible
with PhotoStory.

Maybe this online converter would be worth
a try:

I'm just curious as to why I would need a convertor to convert a .wmv file
back to a .wmv file? YouTube claims that they accept this format when
uploading but yet when I create one with Photo Story 3 it won't work. What
gives?

Photo Story only allows you one way
of saving at that is by saving it
as a .wmv file

Only one Movie format yes but you also can
save the Project file and that format is .wp3.

And FWIW...you can use custom profiles...

story files are made with a different codec than movie files.... similarly
Apple computers can play wmv movies from Movie Maker but not wmv stories
from Photo Story 3.

it's about those mysterious codecs... wmv files can be made using lots of
different compression codecs
