Photo Story 3 newbie-What kind of discs?

I'm brand new Photo Story 3 and to CD burning for that matter. I created a
"photo story" and now want to burn it to a disc to play it on a TV DVD
player. I just tried it and was unsuccessful (the disc would not read on our
DVD player). I used a blank DVD-R 8X disc and burned it using our 16x DVD-RW
drive. In Photo Story 3 I selected the DVD-NTSC in settings (which is what my
DVD player manual says it uses). What am I doing wrong? Do I have the right
kind of discs? Appreciate any help....
Thanks

Update: I just read in my DVD player manual that DVD-RAM and DVD-ROM discs
will not play in our player. CD-R and CD-RW discs will however. Does this
mean that I need to burn it on that type of disc? If so, what is the purpose
of having a DVD burner? Isn't the video quality of DVD supposed to be better
than Video CDs? But if I burn a DVD it won't play on a typical home DVD
player? I'm confused. Also, I have a brand new DVD player should be state of
the art. Lastly, the DVD+R blank discs I just bought are Memorex and they say
on the label "high playback compatibilty with home DVD players". Again, I'm a
newbie and am totally confused. Greatly appreciate any help.

I'm working on a project for my daughter's Volleyball team and have a
deadline. Need to be able to burn the "Photo Story" on to individual discs
for each team member and coaching staff. Thanks again...

This gets confusing but the retail version of
Photo Story 2 has an option to create a VCD.
(Photo Story 3 does not have this option)

The help files in Photo Story 3 say the following:
===
If you intend to save your story on your computer,
and then create a Video CD (VCD) or a DVD, in
the Settings dialog box, select the profile that is
recommended for your VCD or DVD player. Then
import the story into another VCD or DVD authoring
program that supports WMV files and burn the story
onto a CD or DVD.
===

So...it appears that you need a software package
to burn your DVDs.

I have not tried it yet, but there is a free version of
a DVD burner at the following site:

DeepBurner
http://www.deepburner.com/index.php

If you try it, let us know how it works.

John--
Try using CD's and not DVD's...but you will find the
quality is greatly diminished. How about just burning the
finished ".wmv" file on CD...everyone will need to use
Media Player and computers but the quality will be
superior.

The road to Hana sounds good to me right now!! Not nearly as stressful as
trying to burn cds that have a mind of their own!!!
