Photo Story 3: Default transition time and 300 photo limit

The background to this enquiry is that I have a Home Entertainment DVD
player which displays a B-O-R-I-N-G DVD wallpaper on the TV when it is
playing a music CD. So I had the bright idea to take the music and a
few choice photos, mix them up with Photo Story and burn it in DVD
format. Hey presto, I have the music with moving wallpaper. I've now
done this a few of these and am very pleased with the results.

The biggest hassle I have is with the default 5 second display time
that Photo Story uses. I would like to change this to a much higher
value to cut down on the number of photos needed for a given piece of
music, 20 or 30 seconds would seem to be about right. I know I can
change each individual photo hold time but what I'm after is a default
change. Individually changing the time to 20 seconds on 100 photos is
a lot of clicking, believe me. Does anyone have the inside Photo Story
3 knowledge to help me with this?

300 Photo Limit
===========
In researching for an answer to my problem before posting here, I
became aware that people were concerned about a 300 picture limit
imposed by PS3. I found a registry entry, HKEY_USERS\{UserString}
\Software\Microsoft\Photo Story 3\MaxImages, holding the value 300. I
have not played around with this but if you are desparate to have a
higher limit, maybe changing this will have the desired effect. As
with any registry changes you really should know what you are doing
and how to put it back to the status quo ante before messing around.

The following tool is what you need for
globally changing duration.

I would suggest that you do not change the
registry value.

An alternative is to create several smaller
PhotoStory videos and import them into Movie
Maker where you can save them as a completed
..wmv or .avi movie file.

Save as Movie File in Movie Maker:

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

Also, you may find it useful to use
