I have 10 separate albums of photos that I created under
ALBUMS in my documents. When I try to open any one of
these albums to view individual photos within, I receive
the following message: C:\Documents and settings\my name\
my documents\my albums\album name.abm is not a valid
Win32 application. I can't figure out how to get to these
very important family photos. If anyone can help I would
be very thankful.

Do you have the same program installed
that created these files?

..abm would be the format that the files are
saved in and the program that created the
files should recognize them.

A quick search on the net indicates that
an ArcSoft program called..."Photo Impressions
2000 Album" uses the .abm format.

Did you use some software to make these album folders or did you just make
the folder My Album and then subfolders in it and copy your files in each
album?
What is album name.abm in your post? The name of a photo file or a folder?

If it is the name of a folder or subfolder, it should open to let you see
the files in it, despite the fact that there should be no .abm at the end of
the name.
If it is the name of a file, the .abm is not a correct
extension for a photo file. It should be .jpg

However, if you made them with some software, renaming to .jpg may not be
appropriate. We would then need to know the software you used.

If it is the name of a file, right click on it and click on Rename. Then
remove abm and replace it by jpg and see if this file opens. In essence the
name of a photo file should be
filename.jpg
If it is the name of a folder, just remove .abm
