If you are using PPT 2002 or later, you can give each picture an entrance
animation, an emphasis animation of shrink, and a motion path animation. Set
the emphasis and motion paths to happen after the entrance animation with a
small delay. Once you have all the animations set and timed, you can adjust
the end point of each motion path so that it ends in the middle of the grid.
It will take some fiddling, but once you have the process down, it will not
take long to do the remaining pictures.
If you have an older version, this is very difficult to do.
