Ok, I ran into this before and never know what to do about it.

First Question:

What is the deal with inserting a photo and being able to edit it?
What I mean is that I insert a photo from file into my powerpoint
presentation. Later when I want to adjust it, I can right click on it.
But what boggles me is that some photos have the option to use the
photo editor (powerpoint is treating it as a photo) and other photos,
inserted the same way, do not have that option (powerpoint is treating
it as an object).

Second Question:

What is a good pixel size for a photo in a presentation? My new job
entails creating presentations based on older presentaions. A lot of
times, I need to use a photo that was in a previous presentation. Some
of these presentations are small in the number of slides but
mega-large in file size. I started looking at the orginal size of the
photo verses the scaled down size. A lot of the photos have orginal
sizes of 22 inches by 16 inches, scaled down to 13% - 20 %. I
understand that the larger the size of the orginal, the better the
image looks, but there has got to be a middle ground where I can have
a good looking image but still keep the file size down. What are your
suggestions?

Thanks
Rob

Robert,

First Question...

I think if a photo was copied and pasted, then it creates something called
an OLE link. You double click the object and powerpoint opens the correct
application to edit the object. OLE....I never did like it.

If a photo was inserted using
Insert>pictures>from file
then there will be not link to double click.

Second Question....
Read this tutorial on the subject. You're right it is all pixels.

Also another little tip...if you want to get the original bitmap out of
powerpoint....
Edit>copy
Then Edit paste into MS Photo editor. No other photo editor (photoshop psp)
will get the original image out in the original pixel size.
