Allows one to create a "vignette" of the central portion of a photo,
feathers the edge of the selected area, and blurs/fades out the remaining
perimeter?

I've done something similar using Imageforge -

Select white (or another background color), then click twice on the
rectangle tool to choose the "fuzzy rectangle." Set the brush size to
whatever number of pixels will fade away (something over 10 usually
looks best), and mark the "Object is hollow" option. Draw the
rectangle over the picture to finish.

Thanks, Dan. I recently downloaded ImageForge and have played a little
with it. However, I'm sure you tips will be of great help. I obviously
didn't play enough! <G>
