Can anyone suggest a good program that will do a **really good job** at
removing "red eye"
from my digital photos. I have the NIKON VIEW program (it came with the
camera) ,
but I am hoping there is a better
program around that removes red eye.
Thank you.

The following program is what I find to be extremely usefull when it
comes to removing RED-EYE's. It's actually 'just' a photo-manager:

Picasa

Picasa automatically finds and organizes all of your pictures
including: jpeg, tiff, bmp, psd, and standard camera movie files.
Sending pictures with e-mail used to mean five steps just to get it
right. Picasa lets you pick the size and then automatically attaches
your pictures. Browse through all your pictures and view slideshows of
your albums with the click of a button. Just plug your camera in, and
we do the rest. Or, use Photo CD's or your camera's software to
download your pictures; Picasa will find and organize them
automatically. Enhance, fix red-eye, and even crop without losing data
or permanently changing your original picture - all without saving
multiple copies! Features: Automatically organizes - Change color to
black & white - Easy install of Hello - Better integration with Hello,
now including printing from Hello - E-mail (now with HTML storybook) -
Print at home - Order photolab prints - Innovative timeline - Slideshow
(now with music!) - Import from camera - Powerful search (now with
keywords) - Red-eye removal - 1-click enhance - Cropping - Supports
..jpeg, .tiff, .bmp, psd, and .gif - Movie support - Support for network
drives - Scalable thumbnails.

I second PhotoFiltre.

Red-E-Rem works pretty good too. It's purpose made for red eye removal.

FastStone Image Viewer works pretty slick too.
