Hello. I am creating a couple of power point presentations but don't have
2007 ... I think it is the 2002 version. My PPt doesn't seem to have the
compression function for photos and this makes the presentation very large.
Is compression hidden somewhere? It isn't on the Picture Task Bar....
This is the first time I have ever asked a question on line and I'm not a
computer genius so be kind and if someone has a chance to guide me here.
Thanks!

Click once on any picture to select it. Choose Picture from the Format
menu. Click on the Picture tab. You should see a button labeled
"Compress..." Click on it, and then choose "All pictures" and click OK.

An other way to get it
Before inserting your pictures, use PIXresizer (freeware) to compress all of
them and then insert then in PPT

Thank you David, but as I mentioned, my version of PPt apparently does not
have a compress button.

I have 2003. I thought this was introduced in 2002 (which is the version
you said you have), but perhaps it wasn't until 2003. You can look for
some pointers to reduce file size here:

Why are my PowerPoint files so big? What can I do about it?

I rather think you have the 2000 version 'cause the compressor appeared in
the XP version (2001)

Ricky check your version in Help > about microsoft powerpoint

If you do have XP / 2002 then it should be there. Maybe you have deleted it
by mistake. You can get it back (maybe) by tools > customise tick and select
picture in toolbars and click RESET

Did that answer the question / help?
