Hi,,
i use iPhoto in apple but so many don't so ,,, here i am back with windows
and xp.
Powerpoint has come long way since i last used it,,,
I am trying to create a small "wedding type" abum in powerpoint photo
book,,, all is going well however,, i would really like this to have the
appearance of an Actual (virtual) Album Book" ,, you know,,, like apples
iPhoto does, a sort of template? with the appearance of a front of book cover
and inside pages.
Can i do this? ,,, either finding a template or some sort of background that
will work in ppt photo book.
I would like to then use the Package and ppt viewer to put on cd for family
and friends. I Don't necessarily want it to print out a book.

I'm wondering if you might be better off doing this in iPhoto and then
saving it as a PDF document. That would be more universal than
PowerPoint.

Hi David,,,
Yes, ive tried that but it didnt carry across the book and cover formatting
into the pdf,,
i finished up with pretty much just a slideshow pdf with only my pics and
the background colours of the book only.

Hi again,
I am still hoping for a way too do this,,, does anyone now where i might
look to find a PowerPoint Template ?

Ok,, Ive tried all the options and here i am back with PowerPoint,,
I am trying to create digital/virtual Book type Photo Albums ,, not
necessary to print out but more to view in a book like fashion on a pc.

The first project is a wedding album to save to file (or CD) and distribute
to friends and family.
Its taken me about 3 weeks and i still havnt really started yet,,,
Heres what ive tried so far,,,
I first tried this using iPhoto ,,, creates a nice book, easily ,,, but only
option to get it on disc is as a pdf, which didnt carry across all the
background formatting ,,, bummer
Next tried Powerpoint 2007, this can create a slideshow type photobook and
even run without all of powerpoint from a cd,,, sounds good ,, but very
limited templates to do what i trying to do ,, also ,, seems i would end up
with a very large file rather quickly
next,, spend a Lotttt of time sifting through Adobes confusing mirage of
software, And ended up with Photoshop Elements on my pc
I did a trial run at creating a OnLine Album,,, Ended up with Problems so i
am now Back at PowerPoint 2007,,,

I have about 50 photos i'd like to have in this 'Book' .. they are about 1
or 2 mb each

1) If i go through the PhotoBook process in PowerPoint, will they be
compressed somewhere along the way,,, or do i need to do this Prior?

2) is there a location i can get the 'Virtual Booklike' backgronds to use as
Template for this?

Thanks for any help with this,,,

Regards

Hi Jane

Have you looked at photostory? It's a free XP add-in (though I understand it
will work on Vista too):
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx

As Steve says, you can create your own templates/backgrounds/animations like
page turning in PowerPoint if you want to stick with PowerPoint. Some
resources that may be useful:

Or use the Image Importer Wizard

Thanks for the informative replies Steve , Lucy ,, i'll spend some time
looking over the links you sent, but basically yes if i can make a template
that is say ,, a book cover that opens to pages that i can add ,,, yes maybe
i need some tuition on this, i am trying to cheat and find what i want
already set-up

Hi Jane

I've had a bit of a look at photostory and it has several page turning
transitions. Unfortunately I couldn't find an 'apply to all' :-(. It also
auto adds a pan & zoom effect which you can get rid of using this add-in:
http://www.windowsphotostory.com/TweakPS/
It saves as a wmv which should be playable on all computers.

Might be your quickest option.... (don't forget you could create a front
page/back page for the book as pictures and add these to the photostory).
