photo background in cell

I tried using a photograph as the background for a cell on
my webpage, but I can't figure out how to get the photo to
fit the cell exactly. The size of the cell is 80% width,
42 pixels height. I tried using these dimensions for the
photo file and then putting it as the background, but no
matter what the photo doesn't fit the cell exactly and
either gets cut off halfway down or reverts to tiles,
which I don't want. Can anyone help? Thank you!

Thanks for the tip. I was trying to make my webpage
amenable no matter the monitor of a viewer, but you have a
good point.

You can't guarantee it will "fit" in all browsers as a
cell background in a % table/cell since the cell size will
vary based on user
screen settings

You can only make your cell in Fixed px and your image
about 2 px+ larger to get it to show somewhat consistently

You are a dreamer!!!
