phones and modems problem

I am trying to use my blackberry as a modem. Everything was going great in
the set up process until the technician needed me to go to the phones and
modems on my computer. I cannot get past a box that pops up asking for my
location information. i have put in all of the information that it requested
and it shuts down my computer every time. Is there a way to disconnect this
from popping up so that i can get to the phones and modems area to connect up
the service?

What information? Most users tend to leave it pretty much in its
default state, i.e., "My Location", and giving the information for
County, Area Code and dial tone. BTW, was there a connection to a
telephone line when this applet was being accessed?

First of all thank you for helping me. I am using a wireless connection for
my internet and have never had to go into this area until now. Apparently,
when the technician is trying to help me set up my blackberry as a modem we
need to get into this area to set up my blackberry to be a modem. To answer
your question, no i am or never have i used a telephone line to this laptop.
My boss may have used a telephone line a long time ago in the office ...which
i do believe that they did but I have always used wireless since they let me
use the laptop.

Hopefully you have some suggestions on this. thanks again.

If I understand the proposed configuration, there is no need to have
gone through the Phone and Modem applet. What appears to be sought is
an network connection between the computer and the Blackberry with the
latter functioning as the modem [DSL, wireless or whatever] link to the
Internet. Succinctly, the technician has to set up the Blackberry as a
server and use the Ethernet or wireless port on the computer along with
the network wizard to establish the connection between the computer and
the Blackberry. Does this sound right?

Yes that is what i am trying to do or at least what they said that I could do
with my blackberry. I will call the technician and relay this information to
see if we can by pass something and make it work. I will update you as soon
as I am finished.
Many thanks..stay tuned I pray that this works.
