Phone dialer configuration problem

I have XP with Outlook express and i have tried to use a
new headset for the phone dialer application. When i dial
the number the other party can hear me, yet I cant hear
them. I've checked the headset, (works fine when i play a
cd) checked the outputs on the front and back of the PCU
(both work fine when i hook the speakers up i hear sound).
Any ideas?

But have you checked your mic volume? It may be muted.

Check that setting via "START", then "Control Panel", then "Sound and Audio
Devices".
Select the Audio tab, then Recording options Volume....
Familiarize yourself with those settings, and how to get there, and you'll
be able to troubleshoot audio more readily.
