I was wondering if the Phenom 955 is AM2+ compatible, I suppose it it - but i cannot confirm. I have and upgrade itch right now... so i was thinking of upgrading from my 9850. Whats the verdict?

Oh and i do plan on overclocking too, so im thinking of getting a new heatsink as well. So far ive looked at the Zalman CNPS9900 and the Thermaltake CLP0466. Any other suggestion would be nice. But since im using corsair RAM that uses the tall heatsinks - overlarge CPU heatsinks are a no go.

This is a Socket-AM3 part, meaning it can work in both DDR2 based Socket-AM2+ motherboards and DDR3 based Socket-AM3 motherboards. There’s a huge compatibility caveat about AM2+ support but I’ll address that shortly. The Phenom II X4 955 is also a Black Edition part, meaning it has an unlocked clock multiplier for easy overclocking.

You are going for the Black Edition aren't you.
