I need a printer to print a logo, company name and address onto tabloid
sized thin card stock.

I was looking at an HP 5550 but then I found that the Phaser 7400 can
print on thicker stock.

Will the print quality be comparable to inkjet when printing just logo,
company name etc. I will not be printing any images, photo's etc.

Thanks.

Without doing some research, I can't recall if the Phasar 7400 is a
solid ink printer or not.

The solid ink printers have some advantages and some disadvantages.

They use less consumables at less cost, they print onto most stock
because they use a wax based colored "ink".

They tend to be faster than laser.

Quality is close to laser quality, although somewhat more contrasty, but
for logos and test they are fine.

The bad news is: the print is waxy and has a raised and waxy feel to it.
The printing cannot be easily written over because it is wax. If you
are going to put the printed material through a laser printer, it may
melt and smear and damage the laser printer.

On some paper stock the ink may not stick well and may crack if folded.

The printer needs to be left on all the time to prevent clogs, lengthy
warm up times, and a lot of wasted "ink". However, the printer goes
into a deep sleep mode with uses little electricity.

The wax inks are more vulnerable to fading that laser color toners are.

The printers are still relatively bulky and heavy.
