I recently found a user account on my machine that I had
not installed- its title was asp.net machine A. I have
learnt that there seems to be a connection to XP and
updates. Does anyone have any info ? I have deleted the
account.

No need for spybot or adaware for this.
The asp.net account is automatically created when you install the .net
framework.
It's normal and will not cause any harm. The best thing to do is just leave
it alone.
If you do delete it, you will not be able to access some pages that are
created using asp.net technology. If you do not need to use such pages,
there is no need to install the framework in the first place.

Apparently you have the .NET installed on your system
along with millions of others. This is used for various
functions and in the near future will be the norm. Do a
search for the .NET and read read read. You can delete it
if you don't have a .NET account or feal the need to be in
the 21st century. Good luck.

I stand corrected Sunny. I figured that the named programs would tell a
person if indeed it WAS unwanted stuff. I also read the Reverend's post.
