Phantom text display after page break

Using Word 2002 SP-1 under XP Professional.

Viewing a document in Print Layout mode.

When manually inserting a page break to improve layout, the text after
the break is moved down to the next page as expected. But sometimes the
original text between the page break and the bottom of the original page
remains displayed; i.e. it is not deleted on the screen as it should
have been (and it is not possible to click on it).

So I then see two copies of the text; the first copy is at the bottom of
the original page (but shouldn't be there), and the second copy is at
the top of the next page (where it should be).

This only happens with "Page Width" selected. At any other magnification
the text is displayed properly.

Needless to say, this is very annoying. Ideas anyone?

That sounds like a graphics driver issue. Go to the Internet support site
for the graphics vendor and see if there is a newer driver available.

BTW, it is best to avoid using manual page breaks. They cause nothing but
problems when used in longer documents. The best solution is to use the
ParaPageBreakBefore to force a new page to start.

Before doing anything else, the very first trouble shooting
effort I'd take is to reboot - which usually cures what's
ailing your computer... this is especially true for XP.
