We recently uninstalled exchange on a server (box 1) after our 2003 upgrade
to another server. On box 1 we then reformatted the drives and installed
Windows 2003. If I ping the old server name of box 1 I get a reply from the
new server which resides on the same IP address. What is still resolving the
name to IP address? I checked using:

nbtstat -A
dns admin console (scavanged old records, looked for old box1 records)
DHCP

I have no idea were I can find this pointer. Thanks!

Where at? I've looked though the snap-in and found nothing is there a way to
do it with nslookup?

Do you know where your dns server is? Just load the dns server snap in and
point to that server.

Did that. I also ran a check against both servers using nslookup. The
problem appears to have gone away. Now I just need to get my Blackberry
server to acknowledge my new 2003 Exchange box. When I attempt to do a check
name when looking for the besadmin mailbox account it won't resolve the
exchange name? Any ideas on that?

God what a week.

Does a host record and reverse name exist in the domain on your dns server?
