When I enter a name in the "to" line, I'm presented with choices of people who match the entered name. This is cool. However, it also displays old email addresses. I've verified that they're not in my contact list nor are there any messages to that person in my "sent" folder. How in the heck do I get rid of them. This works with autocomplete only. Autoresolve seems to work just fine.

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:

Hi Russ,
Sorry but neither the advice below, nor that in the
Microsoft KB Article, worked on my Outlook 2000 on my XP
PC.

The advice below simply did not delete the cached info.
Using explorer to search for *.NK2 resulted in no files
being found on the C drive.

Where please do I go next to rid my PC of a Phantom
Contact? What else might the cached be called, and where
should it be located?

Thanks

JayB

Hi Russ,
A bit of trial and error identified the following file as
causing the incorrect "Phantom" address:
C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Microsoft Outlook Internet
Settings.NICK

Anyone else suffering the same problem might find their
solution by deleting/renaming this file.

Regards,JayB

The instructions do no apply to Outlook 2000, which had no autocompletion
feature. Autoresolution matches are stored in a NICK file in versions prior
to Outlook 2002.
