For years I have opened my browser (now IE6) with a blank
page, rather than one full of unwanted stuff and ads. I
can still do that, BUT:
When I remove a "Data Miner" that my Anti-Pest software
finds, opening IE reverts to the msn.com page--

This little bug is referred to as a 'Possible Browser
Hijack Attempt' and is located in my Registry at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER: Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
Main "Start Page" (about blank)

Does anyone have a clue what this is about? Running XP2,
but it seems this started before the upgrade. Knock on
wood - I haven't had any problems since the upgrade-
Thanks for any help you can render.

Some anti-spyware programs can give a false positive."About blank" is an
option for your startpage it is also a very aggressive coolweb hijacker!
If you know that you have aboutblank as your selection and it is the page
that came with your system see if your ant-pest software has an ignore
feature for this,so the next time you run it it won't be displayed.
There is of course the danger that if the coolweb parasite does get on
your system your software will not detect it,but if it does you will know it.
