Posted earlier that I could not delete my Temporary files. When I tried to
delete all files I got message "cannot delete file(s). Cannot read from
source file on disk."

With Wes' help I managed to delete in small batches (took a huge amount of
time) but some still remain. Some .gif, .html, and some java files still
remain.

Any ideas on
1. how I can get ride of final 50 files and
2. How I can limit the number of files placed in this folder.

Thanks in advance.

easy.

go into control panel | internet options (or right-click IE icon on
desktop, choose properties),

under Temp Files, choose delete; also check "delete offline content" if
you want. this'll flush the cache folder [except index.dat; see below].

under temp files, choose settings. set max size to about 40 MB, that
should be plenty.

-----------

final step. above file delete does not get rid of the index file, which
can be rather large. to delete it, open a command prompt and CD to the
directory in question. then type del index.dat. It probably won't
delete, because Explorer is running. what you need to do is press
ctl-shift-esc to bring up task manager, then select explorer in the
process list, click End Process button. Your desktop will clear - it's
ok, don't panic. click your command window and repeat the del command.
index.dat should now delete just fine. click back in task manager, choose
"Run" from the menu, and type "explorer" - hit enter. desktop should come
back. or choose reboot from the menu and just let the system reboot,
that'll start explorer back up too.

You are right the first part was easy. I got rid of most of the files but
about 100 still remain. I foud out my problem. I had the max size set to
14000. Took your advise an gave it max of 40 mb.

Need more help with the final step. How do I open a command prompt? Do I use
the Start Run? If so what exact command should follow the cd prompt?

Thanks for your valuable assistance
