I have two autistic nephews who have a fascination with receipts. I
would like to buy a reasonably inexpensive receipt printer (ideally
Mac compatible but could be PC) that could use Microsoft Word or a
text editor to format receipts for printing. Would like to be able to
scan retailer logos that could be printed on the receipts. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

I appreciate trying to provide an interesting activity for your nephews.

You might want to look into a thermal receipt printer, or consider any
thermal printer which uses the same paper types (also used for the older
fax machines).

Reproducing legitimate retailers' receipts probably have some legal
issues involved. Perhaps you can design your own, or use clip art to
make some fun or personal logos that your nephews might enjoy.

Another option is to install some receipt roll paper into a regular
inkjet printer, with a slight bit of adaptation to accommodate the roll
and setting the margins tight.

SIMPLE, BUY A ADDING MACHINE WITH A PRINTER.
