Personal Folders not closed properly

When re-opening Outlook 2002 SP3, I am getting the message 'data file
Personal Folders' was not closed properly. The file is being checked for
problems'. Due to the size, this takes 20 minutes to 'check'. Can someone
explain what this message means and how to correct?

Close Outlook. Then try running the following app on your PST file (I
think this app is available for Outlook 2002. I have 2003.)

What size is the data file?
Youve run the repair tool, scanpst.exe on the data file?
The problem can be caused by utilities/tools accessing the pst, eg a DTS app

This is a sign that Outlook didn't close properly the time before. See if
