I really need HELP. I must have bumped a setting someplace, because now,
every time I go to open ANY Excel file, I'm greeted with a file named
PERSONAL. HOW DO I GET RID of this @#%#^@* thing so that the FILE opens? MS
"Help" is its usual LACK of help.

Personal.xls is a global code workbook that should open every time Excel
does. (If you have one. (If you have no macros or functions you can simply
delete it)), but it should be hidden, with personal.xls active go to...

Windows>hide

When asked if you want to save personal.xls say yes and all will be well
