When is the posting error going to be cured? I would guess that 80% of evrey
post I write produces an error. I've no idea whether they eventually are
posted, duplicated, or what. If MS can't sort this what hope is there for
Vista?

I posting on Vista on and off since yesterday and I have experienced this.
Other have been posting with Vista too. Is this BETA 2?

It is the web-based newsreader.

I'm replying from the web interface and will see what the error says, if
there is one.

Don't use the web interface. It's lousy. Use a newsreader. XP comes
with Outlook Express and Vista has Web Mail.

It's easy to set up for newsgroup access.

Hi,

Stop using the web-based interface (CDO), start using a newsreader.
Instructions on using Outlook Exress can be found here:
http://rickrogers.org/setupoe.htm, the same ones can be used for Windows
Mail in Vista.

Guess I should update that page to include this.

OK I can get there another way. Are you suggesting Microsoft can't be
bothered to fix it?

Colin

I posted with the web interface and got no errors (you can see my message
here), so the problem is not the web interface.

What is the exact error message you are getting?

steve

There's actually 2 problems:-

1. I may have to wait 10 or 15 minutes for the Reply box to open despite
being on broadband with nothing else running on the internet

2. "For the 1 I was complaining about I'll have to send a reply or two to
reproduce the error (because I didn't write it down); but its something like
"Error Your reply could not be posted, please try again later". Once I have
the exact wording I'll give it to you - assuming my reply gets through, of
course!

5th try

An error occurred while sending your post
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We're sorry, but there was a problem with the system and your post was not
received. The error has been reported to Operations and will be investigated
as soon as possible. Please try again later.

So that's 5 errors in succession (probaly get another 1 now!)

So I actually got at least 6 consecutive errors saying my reply wasn't
posted, but every single one WAS posted, as I can now see. I won't keep
repeating this anymore but I assure you that the percentage of false 'error'
reports is very high indeed - 80% at the very lowest, more like 95%

Colin

Hi,

I'm not suggesting that they can't be bothered, but I am suggesting that you
avoid the problem completely by approaching it differently. Microsoft is
aware of this issue with the web interface, but no resources have been
allocated to fix it (like that isn't obvious). I doubt that they will ever
make it a high priority item, so it likely won't get fixed until there is
some down time in Redmond.

So, use Outlook Express in XP, or in Vista, Windows Mail, to access
newsgroups. There. Easy fix.
