Hi All

I have received an access database to take a look at and when I try to open
it I get the message: -

You do not have the necessary permissions to use the '(unknown)' object.
Have your system administrator or the person who created this object
establish the appropriate permissions for you.

Does anyone know what this means and how to get round it. The person who
sent it me cannot access it either and the company that first installed it
are no longer around (well we can't get hold of them anyway)

Thanx in advance for any advice.

The person who sent it to you needs to find the workgroup file for it (a mdw
extension). You would need a copy of this file and then you can use a
desktop shortcut to start the mdb. It's target would look like
"path to msaccess.exe" "path to mdb" /wrkgrp "path to mdw"

You would of course need a username and password to open the mdb.
