We have several Access databases that have been secured.
Everyone has the same permissions on each one of them with
the same Workgroup & password. For some reason 2 staff
members cannot open some databases. They get the following
message: "The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open
the file 'N:\....'. It is already opened exclusively by
another user, or you need permission to view its data."
We've checked that no one had the database opened &
checked the permissions - they are the same as for the
other databases that they can open.
Any idea how we can solve this problem? Thanks

Check their windows permissions. They need modify permission on the folder
where the mdb is.

This is a little vague. I have the same problem. My db is
in a network shared area that everyone has access to and I
have not setup permissions on the folder because they gave
me xp but not admin rights so I can not setup permissions.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear. When you say 'everyone has access to' that could
mean they have read permission on the folder. That alone is not sufficient.
They also need write/create/delete permission on the folder.
