Hello,

Is it possible to assign some kind of permission or
privilege to add local printers to any user account?

I found that adding that account to "Power Users" group,
the user get the necessary permissions to add local
printers to a member server, but it doesn't work with
windows server 2003! any idea?

Thanks in advance!.

for XP and greater the Load Driver privilege was removed from Power Users
for security. You can add this back and add printers again.

logon with admin privilege
Admin Tools / Local Security Policy / Local Policy / User Rights Assignment
/ Load and unload device drivers
Add machine\power users

logon as power user

Thanks a lot Alan,

I did it and it work well.

The "Default Access Control Settings in Windows Sever
2003" white paper said that there was no change in the
power users rights, and in the page 5 said that the power
users can create, manage and share local printers... but
it's not true.

Thanks again for your help.

Alberto Caceres.
