I installed vista on a new hard disk. I also added an older hard disk that
has XP on it. I have many photos and files on the older drive. I can only
change permission for individual files, which would take forever. Is there
a way to change permissions for the entire drive and all files and folders
within? I tried every thing I know and cannot seem to get around changing
each file seperately.
HELP !!

Hi Rene',

Open Windows Explorer, right click the drive and select properties. On the
security tab click "advanced". Go to the Owner tab and click "edit". If your
account appears in the "Change owner to" box, select it and then check the
box to "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects". If it does not, click
"Other users and groups", then click "advanced", then "find now" and select
your account. Click ok/ok, and enable the "Replace" line as above. Click
Apply/OK, the process will now take some time to complete as ownership of
all folders/files on the volume is changed to your account. Close the
dialogs when complete.
