My client can no longer open her mdb file and she has
never set any security on it. The file had been residing
on her c:\ and was moved to the server in order to share
it with other users and to make sure it was getting backed
up daily. Ever since it was moved, no one can open it,
including her.
Help! Any ideas on getting through this one?
Thanks,
ENS

Hi

How are opening it? Any error message? What kind of network? Does everyone
have full rights to the network folder?

Immanuel Sibero

Hi, it is an SBS2k server with winxp pro clients. we've
tried opening the file from within access and also from
windows explorer. Everyone has full rights to the folder
where it resides.
The error message is:
"You do not have the necessary permissions to use
the '[file name]' object. Have your system administrator
or the person who created this object establish the
appropriate permissions for you."

Unfortunately the person who created the file cannot open
it either.

Help!
Thanks,
ENS

Go back to the old computer and find the SYSTEM.MDW.
Copy it to a directory that is accessible to everyone, probably the wherever
the data file resides.
Then go to tool, security, workgroup administrator, join, and browse to that
directory and select the system.mdw.
That should solve your problem.
