Permissions Change Editing Database

I have a number of ACC2000 databases in a directory.
Whenever I directly open a specific database (call it DBA)
and edit any one of its tables, DBA's permissions change.
All the other databases can be edited without any changes
to their permissions.

I reset permissions at the directory level using the
Properties dialog and DBA's permissions are OK again.

I cannot see any differences between DBA and the other
databases (eg: ownership). Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Looks like it is set to Compact on Close.

Tools | Options (View) (Compact on Close)

Compact copies the data to a new file and deletes the old file, so the
database assumes the default folder permissions.

Note that the LDB file is commonly created and deleted, so it is common to
set the folder default permissions the same way you would like the LDB
permissions.

Thanks David.

You are, of course, quite correct! 'Compact On Close' was
set only in the offending database.

A small point. The checkbox is in the 'General' tab.
