I just upgraded my Toshiba laptop Series 3000 from ME to
XP professional. Upgrade successful apart from the
sound. Sound plays but volume, at max, is less 25% of
what it used to be with ME.

Sound uses Crystal WDM Audio Codec. Installing latest
drivers did not solve problem.

Any advice gratefully appreciated

Have you tried adjusting the volume of the speakers from within the driver
itself?

1) Right-click on the Notification Area icon (icon of a speaker).
2) Choose "Adjust audio properties" (Not "Open volume control")
3) Click on "Volume" tab
4) Adjust "Device volume"
5) Click on "Speaker volume" button
6) Adjust individual levels of the speakers
To test the volume, click on the "Sounds" tab, then find the "Start Windows"
sound in the list, select it, and click on the test button (right-pointing
solid triangle).
7) "Ok" out

Hi,

Double click the speaker icon on the notification area.
Adjust the levels for the master volume/Wave MP3/Midi Synth/Line In/Audio CD
