Not strictly XP I know but perhaps someone can help.
What is the longest usable cable length for the keyboard, mouse and monitor
? - [i.e. without the need for *boosters* etc. but with a KVM switch at the
PC if necessary]
I'm trying to set something up for shift workers who use the same PC as
different users and from different locations depending on their shift.

Many Thanks
Phil

How far do you need to go, what walls are in between?

Approx. 30 metres max.
Reticulation is no problem and we'd probaly not want to go wireless.
It's a factory environment with a lot of electrical noise [already had a bad
experience with a wireless link to a printer].

I have seen 30 foot/10 meter cables. You might contact the
KVM supplier to get your options. It might just be easier
and cheaper to use several computer and CAT5 Ethernet to
network several computers. You can use remote desktop.

There are KVM extenders which convert the signals so that a CAT5 cable can
be used to send the signal for 100 meters. This would aonly require one
cable to be "fished" thorough the walls.
