Forgive me if this has been addressed earlier, but I didn't spot it.

What's the top performance rating? I have a 3.7, which I'm told is OK, on a
Dell Dimension e510.

But what's the best?

5 I think. That would be maximum 5 score for each component and and average
of those out of 5. Or something like that :-)

Thanks!

Anyone here got a 5?

Can you tell us your system?

Well....

With Beta 2 I got a score of 2.
With this version I cannot do the performance assessment due to weird
graphics drivers. However if I uninstall the drivers I get a 1 :-(

That being said, this new version runs very well and much faster than the
previous, so I am not too bothered about it as its not giving me problems -
aside from this assessment tool, which to be honest I would not find useful
anyway. Got a couple of issues with other Vista components not working like
DVD maker and Movie maker, but I will not use those either.

Acer Aspire 3613 laptop
1.5ghtz celeron mobile
1Gb ram
128mb integrated graphics
80Gb hard drive

Its got to be higher than 5.
For example: My processor rating is 5.1; My Ram is 5.9; Primary Hard disk is
4.0; Graphics is 5.9; Gaming Graphics is 5.4, giving me a score of 4.

5.9 is the highest. Later down the line as Vista matures, there will be
higher numbers but for now, 5.9 is the highest you can get.

I had a 2 on an HP 2.8G P4 with integrated graphics.

The difference on this 1G ram Dimension e510, which ain't State of the Art
but has 256 Ati card, , is astonishing.

What graphics card do you have? (Though I don't think I could afford it).
My Radeon 600 graphics is 4.1, and gaming graphics 3.7

Nvidia Quadro 1500 (PCI-E16) - 256 mb

I was getting a 4 with Beta 2. With 5536 I am now a 5. My system is an
AMD 4200+ on an Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard with 2 GB of Corsair
dual channel memory and an eVGA 7800GT video card...

That's weird, I got 3,7 with Aspire 5512 (PM 740, 1 GB RAM, X700 128 MB) in
build 5552.

Well the Aspire 5512 is a few models up from the 3613 isn't it? Plus it has
a pentium mobile processor which is better than celeron.

My hard disk rating is a 5.2?!
Primary disk 5.2 here.
I still have not heard which disk is considered "Primary" in my system
that has 2 different types of controllers attached to different HD
(Vista is on the standard EIDE, XP pro on the RAID IDE)

Still slightly confused by it all. For example, Gaming Graphics brings me
down to a 3.7.

But if I don't game, does that really mean I got a 4.1, the figure for my
graphics card?

Also interested in this from the HELP file:

******* if this computer has a System Performance Rating of 3, then you can
confidently purchase any software designed for this version of Windows that
requires a computer with a rating of 3 or less.*******

Can we really expect all programs to be rated in the near future?

The primary hard rive rating is based upon the size of the drive & how much
unused space is available.
For example, my primary drive is only 35 gigs (scsi3, 15Krpm), with only 11
gigs unused...(4 - rating)
