performance with multi users?

TRABEM

I have to do a complete wipe and reinstallation of XP. It runs slow,
reasons unknown.

Anyway, on the old system, we had 2 users, both with administrative
privileges.

I need to know whether multiple users will cause the performance to
drop in a major way. I understand the answer is yes IF both users
remain active with programs running. But, we close our programs and
log off completely when we switch users.

Will multiple users on a system bog it down if only one user has
programs running and the other user is logged off?

Thanks,

T

Not at all. Of course, if one of those users allowed viruses and/or spyware
onto the computer, that will affect performance even after the user is
logged off. Especially so if the user has administrator access.

Actually it was always recommended to have xp with at least 2 users in
the system, the user(s) dont slow xp,having a user running as an Administrator
seems to have somewhat of multiple negative effects though. With a user
running in "limited account" alot of services are turned off or not
available.

Hey, I know I'm not the message group cops, but try not to post the same
thing in multiple groups..I answered your post in Help and Support

I know.......

I crossposted in 3 relevant groups, and got slammed for that though.

Thanks for answering.

well, I have learned that there is a difference between cross-posting and
multiple posting. Cross-posting allows your post to be placed in multiple
categories, but if one post is answered in one category, it's answered in
all at the same time.
