performance slowdown

for the last couple of days my pc performs commands not
as quickly as it used to, not only on the internet but
also in any other application. i did a disk defrag and
clean up but it did not improve the speed...help...

Tina, have you checked the number of programs running in the background
and on Startup. Take a look in the Task
Manager. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete. and Start>Run type: msconfig
select Startup and uncheck programs you don't
want to run. You could also check for virus, trojan and spyware. Take a

I have a similar problem. Win XP Pro. Seems I have to do

the Cntrl alt del thing after each command to wake up the
machine - I don't know what to do about it tho - sorry.
I'm thinking it's a broken task manager - cntrl alt del
seems to bring it to life and then the command works - go
figure.....
