Hi,

I have a computer with ASUS A7N8X (normal version), 1GB DDR RAM PC2700,
120GB HD WD ATA100, ASUS Gforce 4600, and a AMD 1800XP processor.

Do I notice any performance gain if I upgrade to a new AMD processor, CPU
AMD K7 ATHLON XP 2600+ 333FSB ??

thanks

Sure I think in general youll notice a moderate feeling of general
peppy-ness in your PC. I dont think itll blow you away obviously.

If you do certain things I think youll notice it. Ive got two PCs ones
a 1 gig athlon 512 megs 2100 ddr and the one I mainly use is a 1700
AMD athlon XP 1 gig mem set at 2100. I notice a fair difference
especially when I was working on both - encoding, and
compressing/decompressing things in general. The 1 gig is standable
perfectly still usable but the difference is noticeable enough so that
Id defintely prefer using even my 1700 system now even if it had the
same HDs etc.

There will be a bigger difference when I get my Kingston 3200 stick
and Barton 2500 hopefully in the next few days then Ill set it to 3200
mem and OC the 2500 to 3200.

You'll notice a performance increase in any situation where the CPU is
a significanty bottleneck. Consider your applications, whether they
are CPU bound. Video encoding and gaming are two common situations
where the new CPU and higher bus/memory rate will help a lot.
