Performance problems with FIFA 2004

My pc lags when i play FIFA 2004. I found out that the
problem only occurs when my home network is on. if not,
there is no performance problems. is this anyhting to do
with the windows update files? i have updated all the
updates and this problem usually pops out. before the
update, there is no performance lag in the original
version.
 
If you are playing online then the home network is taking
away from your bandwidth and causing the lag.
