Performance Problem

Hello,

I have the next problem over my WTS Servers:

First of all i'm gonna explain my WTS configuration. I have two W2K terminal
servers running with 2GB and 1GB of RAM giving service to 35 and 25 user
respectively.

I have some clients using thintune clients to access throught Terminal
Services to some applications like Email, Office, client-server applications,
etc... and other clients using usual Workstations.

The system works fine most of the time, but in specific moments the system
freeze for lapses between 30 seconds and 3 minutes. This situation is
repeated during the day serveral times.

The more peculiar thing is that when one WTS is freezed, the other terminal
server is also, in most of the cases, freezed, and sometimes a oracle server
also is freezed.

We have monitorized the WTS using Perfmon, and the memory usage is ok, the
processor usage is ok, the raid disk system usage is ok, the network
interface usge is ok, and no bottleneck is indicated by this tool at all. We
also have monitorized the Oracle server Usage and the network usage and no
bottleneck have been detected.

So we think there is a problem with Windows Terminal server as a bug or
something similar.

¿Has anybody a similar problem? ¿Could you help me?

Thanks in advantege,
Fernando Mons.

Does the system recover spontaneously? You don't need to reboot it?
Is there anything in the EventLog on the server?

Did you run Perfmon when the system freezes? Did the Perfmon graphs
have missing data points during these freezing periods? If so,
check this article:

pause when a Terminal Services client logs on or logs off

Hello Vera,

The system recover itself without any reboot or manual actuation, and the
event log has not recorded any problem or event in this time.

Also the Performance monitor is recording information all the time without
missing any data.

Thanks for the information.

Regars,

Hello,

We finally find the solution to this problem, so gonna share this knowledge:

In some site we read about a problem in TS to access to network files, so we
realized that we have made over this servers a network administrative
installation of the oracle Client. Then we change the installation of the the
Oracle Client from Network to local, and surprisely the problem was solved.
Simply the pauses and freezes gone away.

Fernando Mons.
