Performance issue with BCM

Outlook 2003 on XP Home

I installed Business Contact Manager, but have no data in there yet.

Now, when I type a name to find in contact search box in the menu bar, it
takes a long time to return the list of contacts.

In 2002, and in 2003 without BCM, if I put "Pat" in the search box, I get a
list of all the "pat"s in my database in less than a second. With BCM, it
takes 30-45 seconds, and sometimes more. That might not seem like much, but
when you make 30-40 phone calls a day, as I do, that's a lot of waiting
around.

Any ideas on how to improve performance with BCM?

Thanks

The only way would be tp upgrade the machine. BCM uses MSDE and it runs in
the background. As such, the requirements of the machine to run the
program smoothly are more.

Upgrade what part of the machine?

Does it require more CPU, more RAM, or a faster disk?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I use a laptop (which has a 1.0 GHz Pentium III CPU), so
upgrading the chip will require a new laptop, (~$2000 or so) and would only
result in a 10-15% improvement.

Guess I'll uninstall BCM.

And a laptop Hard drives spin at 4200RPM where the slowest desktop Hard
Drive spins at 7200RPMs. Big Difference there.
