Does anybody know if there is a way to start a Performance Log from the
command line or a batch file in Windows 2000? I have been unable to find a
way to do that.

Open Perfmon (perfmon.exe) and select the set of counters that you want.
Then, select "Save As" from the Console menu and save the .msc file.

Now, you can launch the .msc file from the commandline to have the exact
list of perf counters all selected, etc.
