Hi all

can somebody help me with what I am hoping is a simple
formulae. If I had 5000 in A1, and 25 in A2, what
formula would I use to calculate what percentage A2 is of
A1?

Any urgent help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Louise

Hi Frank

Am I having a blonde moment? I've done what you
suggested but it hasn't given me the result I was
expecting. I have 5000 in A1 and 23 in A3 and did the
sum you suggested and it gives me the answer 21739%!! Am
I doing something wrong???

Thanks.
Louise

Hi Louise
putting 5000 in A1 and 23 in A2 the formula
=A2/A1
(no sum function) - format the result cell as 'percentage' an I get
0.46%

Louise,

It sound to me like two things

- firstly, you have inverted the formula, so that if you entered =A2/A1, try
=A1/A2
- one of your values, probably the 25, has some decimal places that are not
showing. If say the 25 is in A", add this formula to another cell
=IF(A2=25,"Yes"),"No") - if you get No I am correct.

Just to add
it seems you have flipped the cells in your formula:
A1/A2 would result in 21739%
so just change the order and it should work
Frank

Sorry, missed the change from 25 to 23 in your second post. It looks just
like an inverted set of values then.
