Hi

I'm trying to plot the length of time staff have worked for a company
on the y axis in ranges i.e 0-6 months, 6-12 months etc. I have a
seperate column that has converted the months worked into each of
these catagories.
I then would like to show on the x axis the percentage of staff that
fall into each period.

I would certainly appreciate any assistance!

Have you tried the FREQUENCY function? Or the Histogram in the data
analysis toolpak? That's where I'd start. I won't attempt to rewrite Excel
help on these functions -- they do a pretty decent job most times.

Once you have the data in the right order, it would seem straightforward to
chart it as a bar chart with the x-axis as the percentage of staff and the
y-axis the category in which they fit.

If my suggestions have missed the mark, post back with a small sample of the
data.

Try making your source data look like this.

0-6 months 6-12 months 12-18 months etc.
0-10%
10-25%
25-50%
50-75%

Select the entire range (including the blank cell in the A1 position)
with your data and press F11. Adjust as needed.
If you really don't like it, change the data in the table axis and
repeat, and select all the data including the blank cell in the A1
position

I.e.
0-10% 10-25% 25-50% etc.
0-6 months
6-12 months
12-18 months

Hope that helps!
