Hi,
Just installed Windows Live Messenger a few days ago. Have not been
able to figure out how to search for or find other people who use
messanger.

The help file seems to imply that entering names into the contact
window will automatically bring up people as you type. For me, the
only place this looks is in my own Contact file ...and there is nothing
there.

Is there in fact a people search that looks out into the web for other
Messenger users?

Any help appreciated.

peter

Greetings Peter,

Yes the search only searches your own contacts. At this point there is really no search for
people anymore. You will need to know their Passport/Windows Live ID.

Thanks Jonathan,

So how does one get the Live ID for people .... have not really seen a
directory anywhere.

thx again

Hi Peter,

I'm afraid the only way is to just ask people. To be fair there's some other links to
Messenger within other Live services (like Spaces) there really is no "directory" anymore
since the MSN Member Directory was shut down.
