Hi,
can anyone tell me, ok know a link, how to open the cassette of a Pentium
slot1 233 MHz
thanks
Willem
How far open do you want it?
The backside, opposite the heatsink/heat spreader, is held on by 4 studs
which pressure-fit into the back plastic shell. A large thin object (like
a knife blade) can be used to CAREFULLY pry apart the casing at two top
corners, about 10mm down, and at two bottom corners (where edge contacts
are) but about 15mm up from bottom.
After the back plastic is removed you'll see there are 4 different studs,
part of the heat spreader, that go though holes in the CPU PCB and are
secured with large spring-clips. The next step would be to remove those
spring-clips, which is difficult but possible by prying up on one side of
the tab while applying downward pressure on the same end of the clip.
Relatively speaking, it is difficult and the most dangerous part of the
operation. After removing both spring clips the entire heat spreader and
heatsink will come off.
If you wish to remove the outer heatsink from the head spreader, it may be
held on with what intel calls "riviscrews", which are very tight screws
with (either a hex or star head, i forget which but think hex-head).
