Peer-to-Peer XT to ME

Is it possible to create a peer-to-peer connection between
a Windows XT and ME machines using just a cross-over
cable. I have tried all the wizards and they dont work.

All versions of Windows, including XP and ME, can network with each
other.

Are you sure that you have a properly wired cross-over cable? If XP
says "Network cable unplugged", there's something wrong with the
cable.

Did you run XP's Network Setup Wizard on both computers? What answers
did you give the Wizard when it asked about your network and Internet
connection?
