Office has 4 PCs as workstations. Each uses XP Pro. Just finished
reformatting one hard drive and installing software. In setup I called the
office network "office" instead of "workgroup". How do I change the name?

How about going to Start -> Help and Support and entering
"Change workgroup name" in the Search box at the top of the
window?

Here's what it will tell you to do.

Right click My Computer and select Properties from the menu.
This should open up System Properties.
Note: You can also go to Control Panel and double click the
System icon.
Click on the Computer Name tab.
Click on the Change button.
Change the named entered under Workgroup and click OK.
You'll have to restart the computer for the changes to take
place.

For more info, take a look at this article,

computer description in Windows XP or in Windows Server 2003

Good luck

I see that Nepatsfan has already answered your question. I just wanted to
add a comment. There's no requirement that it be called "workgroup" or
anything else. The name is up to you, and "office" is perfectly fine.

You can go to :
start menu\ All Programs\ Accessories\ Communications\ Network Setup Wizard.
then you can name each machine, and enter a workgroup name , and decide if
you want to enable file sharing or not.

hope rthat helps

No, it doesn't help me at all. I wasn't the one with the problem. Please be
careful in the future to direct your replies to the appropriate person.
