Hi Billy,

The Dell800 (IP 192.168.0.1) had a default gateway of itself.

And I assumed your question implied that it might help if I changed it to
the other PC, (PBT300 192.168.0.2), which I set on both PCs , but still no
joy.

Two other things I've noticed

1. the PBT300 has both 'Entire Network' and 'Computers Near Me' under 'My
Network Places', whereas the Dell800 has only ' Entire Network'

2. The PBT300 responds normally (it shows its own icon and shared items)
which I click on Workgroup under Microsoft Windows Network. The Dell800
on the other hand, freezes the explorer window for 60 seconds, displays the
'Workgroup is not accesible. The list of servers for this workgroup is not
currently available' error message, and can't even see itself.

Any other ideas to help?
