I have a customer who has 12 workstations in a peer to
peer enviroment, running a combination of Win XP and
Win2000. They essentially run one of the workstations a
sa "pseudo" server, sharing a common data directory for
users, although not all 12.
Simple questions as I think they should be moving towards
a server based enviroment. Is there a limit on peer to
peer file sharing. That is can they have an unlimited
ammont of users sharing a common folder on a single PC?
Thanks

There is a limit of ten concurrent connections for any
version of Windows, other than for servers. With 12 users
you will hit this limit all the time. I suggest you look at
the Small Business Server, with the appropriate number
of CALs (Client Access Licences).

Agree with both of the other replies. I don't like workgroups beyond a small
handful of computers anyway - best to have centralized storage/backup, login
scripts, centralized admin & security....
